Rescue Practice Cancelled due to Callout
YOUTH TRIP GIRL RESCUED FROM CAVE
A 16 year old from Plymouth who slipped and hurt herself
while on a youth group trip, was safely brought out of the cave
by the DCRO.
Police and the Westcountry Ambulance Service were present
and a paramedic went underground with the DCRO team to assist
with the care of the casualty.
After being checked over by the paramedic, the young lady was
strapped into one of the DCRO's React Stretchers.
Although in some pain she was in good spirits for the relatively
short journey back to the surface.
The party were in an area of the cave known as Crystal Chamber
when the fall occurred. As this is not very far from the
entrance of the cave system it made the extraction a relatively
straightforward one.
The group were under the control of experienced and
qualified instructors, whose swift reaction helped make
this a successful rescue.
